Google My Business now lets restaurant owners add and edit their menu list

Do you know that the number one visited page on a restaurant website is, besides their homepage?

The restaurant menu.

Chances are, if you recently visited a restaurant's website, you were probably looking for their menu to whet your appetite. It's possible that you might also go their to see any specials or events going on, but primarily you want to see what's cooking.

If you own a restaurant, you're in the business of guest service.
Google is in the business of getting the right information to the right person at the right time.

Google is now making it easier than ever to get that right information (your menu) to the right person (your customer) at the right time (during a search).

How is this possible? Google for some time has allowed verified owners of a Google My Business page to edit the url of a menu.
When a user searches for "Your Restaurant", it will pull up any information you have given to Google, including your website's URL and specifically the URL of where your menu is placed.

Now, you can add your restaurant menu directly into the Google My Business platform, and instead of navigating to your site, Google will show rich snippets of your menu during the search.

Why is this beneficial? Wouldn't you want them to go to your site and get the menu?

In a perfect world, yes. However, Google's Snippets load up with the search results, so there's zero lag time. Ultimately you want your customers to have a great experience and get the information they need...quickly.

Your menu on Google My Business does this for you.
Below is the official quote from the Google My Business Community Forum written by Allyson Wright:

Hi everyone,

Google My Business listing owners have had the ability to add and edit their own menu links in the info tab of their dashboard. Now, in addition to using the GMB API or 3P menu service, listing owners will be able to showcase their menu directly on their Google listing for consumers on mobile by adding their own structured menu using the GMB Info tab.

Use this editor to add menu items (dishes) including title, description, and price, as well as to create multiple sections of the menu, i.e. appetizers, entrees, and desserts.

This feature will only be available if the listing is not currently connected to a third party provider and for listings in English speaking locals. If one of your listings is currently displaying an incorrect menu, please see this help center link for more information on how to correct or remove the link.

How do I get my restaurant menu on to Google My Business?

It's quite simply to get your restaurant menu on Google My Business. It just takes some time.

At this point, there is no option to "upload" a menu. You'll have to hand type it in.

If you're using a service like Single Platform, chances are your menu is already being pushed to Google's menu page anyway. This is an option if you are not paying for a service like that.

Hand keying a menu in usually takes about 1-2 hours depending on how large the menu is and how fast you are :p

There are no less than 35+ companies that fall under the umbrella of Marketing Automation. Not including the amount of CRM’s (Customer Relationship Manager) and ESP’s (Email Service Providers) that are out there. There are no less than 35+ companies that fall under the umbrella of Marketing Automation. Not including the amount of CRM’s (Customer Relationship Manager) and ESP’s (Email Service Providers) that are out there. When considering the technology differences between MA, a CRM and an ESP, many of the features are overlapping. However, only Marketing Automation offers what a CRM can do, what an ESP can do & much more.

If you’re working with some budget constraints, and you’re working with a professional designer – choosing to start with a template can be a great way to get your website up and running. If you’re on time constraints, templated websites work great for that as well. However, if you're looking for a professional, one of a kind user experience, then custom is the way to go.

If you’re like me, then you my friend, are a data junkie. Even if you’re not a data junkie, you can still appreciate measuring your ROI. What I’m saying here, is that while the world is going (has gone) digital, you can still make excellent use of offline marketing campaigns and advertising.

What’s more important to you: A shiny trophy for being number one on Google or a boat load of new clients coming your way. Yes, we have said before that the number one position on Google gets 33% of the traffic for that keyword, but what do you see coming up as number one now-a-days? Local Directories come up first. Do a quick Google search for anything local business related, and the first page of results will be review sites and directories.

Are you still creating posts that say "Mention this post and get 10% off your next in-store purchase"? It's important to keep track of what's working in your marketing plan, but you're making it difficult for people to redeem your offer. Facebook has a built-in post to create what we'll call a coupon, they call it an offer. I walk you through how to create a Facebook Offer/Coupon and there's a video walkthrough also.
